My attempt at writing a poem

When the adoption process is about to stretch you beyond stretching,
When the remarks from those closest to you during your process sting,
When you are looking up to God to know how to get your baby home,
When you feel so bonded to a child you have never met,
When you are tired, exhausted and your hair begins to fall out,
When you don't know where to turn because you don't know where the funds will come from,
When you don't understand how you can wait "a lifetime" to hear any news,
When you have gotten home post adoption and the honeymoon is over,
When your child, yes YOUR child, cries to go back to where they came from,
When your child doesn't understand what you are saying,
When your child does not understand why your skin color is a different color than theirs,
When your child cries tears, crocodile tears, of sadness when they disappoint you,
When your child asks how we can help their friends in their birth country,
When your child is grieving that their friends will go without food tonight,
When your child shakes with fear of the dark,

You stop. You stop. You stop. Be still. Be still.

When your child puts their hand on your face and says, "Mommy, yes you Mommy, I am so glad you are MY Mommy."

You know instantly, undoubtedly that God has held your hand and confirmed that HE, the Great Maker of Heaven and Earth, has Faithfully knit you forever with your child.

You know that your "Yes" at the beginning of your adoption process has been divinely confirmed by He, The Savior, The ABBA Father, The Beginning and End.

HE has ordained and confirmed all the fears, all the doubts, all the whys.

HE has answered Amen! YES!
